Background: In developed country, AMI is one of the most common inpatient diagnose. The early mortality rate (30 days) in AMI is a 30 percent witha half of cases is dead before ii 'd be treated in hospital. Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics of AMI patients with an overview of blood glucose levels are treated in the Department of Internal Medicine RSUP DR. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period l July 2010- 30June 2011. Method: This study is a descriptive study with cross sectional design. Results: From the results obtained the results of this study, 94 medical records with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. Then from this number, most patients with acute myocardial infarction is on, male gender (85.1%) and the age group 55-64 (30.9%). Based on the results obtained casual blood glucose levels of patients with high glucose (more than normal) as many as 68 people (72.3%) and are classified DM totaling 19 people (20.2%) with levels> 200 mg I dL and.from 19 people was conducted checks fasting blood glucose and blood glucose 2 hours 18 people found DM Results of lipid profiles in patients with AMI with high glucose levels are mosl in rhe group, high total cholesterol (61%), LDL-C is very high (54%), low HDL-C (44%) and CK-MB isoenzyme abnormal (98.5%). Conclusion: It was found that high blood glucose in patienls with AMI by 72.3% and classified as DM by 20%. There was no significant difference in outcome between casual examination of blood glucose, fasting glucose, and blood glucose 2 hours. Increased total cholesterol and LDL-C and decrease HDL-C patients AMI with high blood glucose.
