Background: Myocardial infarction is one of the most diagnosed cardiovascular disease in hospital. Based on studies that have been conducted, the proportion of myocardial infarction is increasing throughout the year. This increase occurred due to the unfamiliarity of any risk factors that can lead to myocardial infarction, including modifiable risk factor and non-modifiable risk factor. Objective: To detennine the proportion of myocardial infarction, distribution of risk factors including age, sex, body mass index, blood pressure, blood sugar spot level, LDL cholesterol level, HDL cholesterol level, and total cholesterol level. And relation of each risk factors on proportion of myocardial infarction who were treated in RK Charitas Hospital Palembang period January 1st 2010 through December 31st 2010. Method: This research is analytical study with cross-sectional design. Population of this research is all the cardiovascular disease patients who were treated in RK Charitas Hospital Palembang period January 1st 2010 through December 31st 2010. Data collected from secondary data or medical record and research results are presented in tables form, images, and narration using SPSS 19. Results: Proportion of Myocardial infarction is 41%. The most patients are in 50 - 54 years old and 65 - 69 years old (19%). As many as 93% patients are male. 38% patients had normal body mass index, 50% patients had hypertension 2nd degree, 55,2% instead of DM patient, 70,7% had normal LDL cholesterol level, 50% had low HDL cholesterol level, and 82,8% had normal total cholesterol level. Discussion: Based on this research, myocardial infarction is multifactorial disease. Contributing factors that involved in myocardial infarction are blood pressure, blood sugar spot level, and high cholesterol LDL level.
