PENGARUH BIOFORTIFIKASI KALSIUM (Ca) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL BAYAM (Amaranthus gangeticus) PADA BUDIDAYA HIDROPONIK RAKIT APUNG
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, which is 1.5-2% of adult body weight.“Low calcium intake can result in low matrix mineralization of new bone deposits and osteoblast diffusion. The low calcium intake of the Indonesian people is one of the causes of the high risk of stunting, so there is a need for support to meet the body's calcium needs. Spinach is a leafy vegetable that is liked by many people, because spinach has a delicious taste and texture and the price is more affordable. This study aims to determine the growth and organoleptic test of Spinach ( Amaranthus gangeticus ) plants . the product of biofortification with calcium (Ca) which is cultivated hydroponically on floating rafts. This research was conducted with 2 treatments and 4 replications, consisting of 0 ppm control treatment (P0) and 200 ppm calcium treatment (P1) on spinach plants. The addition of calcium (Ca) concentration had no significant effect on the variables of plant height, leaf greenness, leaf area, fresh weight, water content and Ca content. The addition of calcium (Ca) had a significant effect on the number of leaves and plant dry weight variables. The results of the analysis of vitamin C and carbohydrate levels showed that the P1 treatment (200 ppm) was higher than the P0 treatment (control). Assessment of organoleptic test results showed spinach with calcium treatment was green, had a non-bitter taste, had a fresh firm texture, and was preferred by panelists. So spinach plants that get an addition of 200 ppm calcium can be accepted and liked by the community to meet daily”calcium needs.
