Study on phytoplankton as a bioindicator of water quality has been carried out in Lambidaro River, Palembang. The sample has taken in November 2021 which aims to determine the community structure of phytoplankton, saprobic index to indicate the level of pollution, and its correlation with environmental parameters. Sampling station was determined by purposive sampling and the sample was taken by composite sampling. The results of this study have found phytoplankton with a total of 24 genera belonging to five classes, namely Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, and Euglenophyceae. Phytoplankton diversity index ranged from 1,84-2,36 belonging to moderate community diversity & stability. The saprobic index ranged from 0,3-0,9 with β mesosaprobic and β/α-mesosaprobic phases, indicating that the Lambidaro River in light to moderate levels of pollution, with sources of pollutants in the form of organic and inorganic materials. Phytoplankton groups were found to be α-mesosaprobic (3 genera), β-mesosaprobic (13 genera), oligosaprobic (2 genera), and non-saprobic (6 genera). In lightly polluted waters were still found the genus Gyrosigma sp., Cyclotella sp., Tetrastrum sp., Actinastrum sp., Merismopedia sp., Closterium sp., Cosmarium sp., Pandorina sp., and Planktothrix sp., while in moderately polluted waters were not found. The diversity index and saprobic index were positively correlated with DO, current speed, and pH. The abundance of phytoplankton was negatively correlated with turbidity, DO, and current speed. The results of this study were presented into a student worksheet as learning resources for KD 3.6 of biology lesson in High School of 10th grade, related to the material of protists (plant) and their role in the aquatic environment. Keywords: Phytoplankton, Bioindicator, Water Quality, Lambidaro River, Saprobic Index
