TINGKAT KEJADIAN INSOMNIA PADA LANSIA DI BAGIAN RAWAT INAP PENYAKIT DALAM RSUP MOEHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE OKTOBER-DESEMBER TAHUN 2011
Introduction. Insomnia is a sleep disorder most often found in the elderly. Incoming complaints include difficulty sleeping, difficulty maintaining sleep, and waking up too early. In America. approximately 67% of older adults complain of insomnia. The impact of insomnia in elderly general form of excessive daytime sleepiness, impaired attention and memory, mood depression, frequent falls, improper use of hypnotics, and decreased quality of life. Therefore, this study aims to determine the incidence of insomnia in older adults who are hospitalized in the ward of Internal Medicine department of RSUP Moebammad Hoesin Palembang. Method. This type of research is descriptive with cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using a questionnaire KSPBJ IRS to 48 elderly patients who are hospitalized during the period October to December 2011. Result. The final results of this study showed the incidence of insomnia in the elderly who are hospitalized during the period October to December 2011 at 79.2%. Insomnia occurs more frequently in males (52.63%) than females (47.37%). Based on Sturges formula. the incidence of insomnia in older adults are more prevalent in the age group 60-63 years (44.7%). While based on the WHO categories are more prevalent in the elderly category, namely the age range 60-74 years (86.8%) Discussion. The incidence of insomnia in older adults in the inpatient department of Internal Medicine Moehammad Hoesin Palembang high enough. By gender, more men than women suffer from insomnia lbis isin contrast with research that states that women are more at risk of insomnia than men. Based on the age, the incidence of insomnia in the elderly category higher than the elderly elderly old category, especially in the range of 60-63 years. It is not in line with theory that suggests that the complaint against insomnia increase with age. Difference in the results of this study possibly because the number of researchers that the sample distribution is uneven.
