STRATEGI BERTAHAN HIDUP PETANI KARET DALAM MENGHADAPI KERUGIAN AKIBAT BANJIR MUSIMAN DI DESA SOAK BATOK, INDRALAYA UTARA, OGAN ILIR
Disaster The flood event that occurred in Soak Batok Village, North Indralaya, Ogan Ilir could disrupt some farmer activities, especially as 75% of the families work as a farmer. The flood caused negative impacts in the form of damage to land resources, losses in the socio-economic aspects of the community, and agricultural environmental problems. This seasonal flood event requires the community to be able to adjust to the conditions they experience. This study aims to (1) identify the causes and effects of seasonal flooding in Soak Batok Village. (2) Calculating the difference in farmer household income before and during the seasonal flood disaster in Soak Batok Village, (3) Identifying the economic, social and environmental impacts of farmer households due to seasonal flooding in Soak Batok Village. (4) Measuring the strategies adopted by farmers to deal with economic losses due to seasonal flooding in Soak Batok Village. The choice of research location was done intentionally or purposive sampling. The research was carried out in December 2021. The research method used in this study was a survey method. This study took 30 samples from a total population of 385 farmers in Soak Batok Village. Determination of the number of samples used in this study was simple random sampling of farmers in Soak Batok Village. The results showed that (1) The flood disaster in Soak Batok Village was due to the relatively close distance of the river to agricultural land and the irrigation or drainage flow did not function properly so that when the intensity of rainfall was high it would cause river water to overflow and cause flooding that inundated agricultural land. . This has an impact on the decline in agricultural production and the occurrence of social and environmental losses experienced by residents, namely, the residents' home environment becomes dirty, building damage, economic activities become jammed, roads become potholes, trauma that can be experienced by the community, and the presence of residents who are stricken with disease. (2) The income of farmers before the seasonal flood was higher than the income during the flood, it can be seen from the average income of the farmers before the flood of Rp. 17,899,281/lg/Mt, while the income during the seasonal flood was Rp. 12,463,821/lg/Mt. This disaster also caused economic losses, where income lost during seasonal floods decreased by Rp. 5,435,450/lg/Mt. (3) The survival strategy carried out by farmers in dealing with seasonal flooding with three strategies namely active, passive and network strategies has an average score of 16.39 with moderate criteria. Farmers in Soak Batok Village reduce spending more and make cash and non-cash loans as a survival strategy.
