RESPON BEBERAPA VARIETAS PADI (Oryza sativa L.) TERHADAP CEKAMAN BESI
Iron (Fe) is one of the essential nutrients for all plants. Iron has an important role in biological processes such as photosynthesis, chloroplast development, and protein biosynthesis. However, if the iron content in the plant exceeds the required capacity, it will turn into a poison for the plant. The aim of the research was to study the response of several rice varieties to iron (Fe) stress. The research was conducted at the Greenhouse Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir from July to August 2019. This research used the water culture method and was designed using a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAKF) system with two factors, the varieties and treatment factors. There were 16 kinds of rice varieties with 2 treatments, control and Fe stress with 3 replications. Each replication contained 15 plants. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that the rice varieties used gave different responses to 250 ppm Fe stress and were categorized into tolerant, moderate and susceptible varieties. Tolerant varieties are Batu Tegi, Situ Patenggang, Inpara 9, Inpago 9, Inpara 8, and Towuti. Moderate varieties are Rindang 2, Inpago 5, Inpago 4, Unsoed and Rindang 1. Susceptible varieties are Mahsuri, Inpago 10, Inpago 8, Hawara Bunar and Inpago 12.
