The purpose of this research is to study the species and abundance of fruit fly genus Bactrocera that attack on chilli pepper commodities in three traditional markets in Palembang. The study used descriptive method. Chili pepper samples were collected with field survey techniques in three markets in Palembang. Field research was conducted by collecting samples of chilli pepper which were attacked by fruit flies and using method of rearing hosts. The emerging fruit fly imago was characterized by its morphological character on head, thorax, wing, abdomen and determined by its species. The results from the identification, there are two types of fruit flies that attack chili peper is a Bactrocera dorsalis and Bactrocera carambolae. The abundance of 58 and 31 individuals for Bactrocera carambolae and Bactrocera dorsalis respectively. Contribution of this research is a student worksheet on Basic Competence 4.2 Presenting the result of biodiversity observations in Indonesia and recommendation conservation efforts
