STATUS GIZI PERIOPERATIF ANAK YANG DIRAWAT DI BAGIAN ANAK DAN BEDAH RUMAH SAKIT Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: The assessment of pre-surgery and post-surgery nutritional status are important to prevent nutritional disorder in children. Pre-surgery nutritional status is influenced by nutritional status before hospitalization, pathogenesis of the disease, and duration of pre-surgery treatment. Post-surgery nutritional status is influenced by the impact of surgery, duration of treatment, and food intake post- surgery. Method: This study was an observational descriptive study with prospective approach, conducted through direct measurement of nutritional status in children treated in pediatric and surgery department of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, since September to November 2013. There were 38 children. Result: Most of the children undergoing surgery are within the 0-2 years old. Male patients are 3,2 times greater than female patients. Major surgery were most commonly found. Nutritional status increased in 11 children, and their nutritional status did not change were in 20 patients, and also their nutritional status decreased were 7 patients. Conclusion: The educational status and income of their parent indirectly played a role in nutritional status of their children. The duration of treatment could influent children nutritional status, since the treated children usually took more rest, got enough food in regular time from hospital and parental attention in their children’s nutritional status. The size of operated tumor and surgery stress suffered by children during treatment played role in the decreased of post-surgery body weight.
