Background: Obesity is a health problem in the world that increase every year. Obesity is caused by the interaction of heredity and environment (lifestyle) that has an impaet of so many serious eomplieations that must be solved quiekly. The purpose of this study is to determine influence of heredity factor and lifestyle tQ obesity in private elementary school student at district of Ilir Timur 1 Palembang Methods: This research used case control study; The researeh began in October 2012 and November 2012 at Frater Xaverius 2 and IPEKA elementary school. Samples were taken by case finding method. The data collected are weight and height, data heredity, and lifestyle. The results obtained were analyzed using Chisquare statistical test. Results: There are influence of nutritional status of fathers to obesity in children (p 0,001; OR 3,233; 95% GI 1,647-6*345)* influence of maternal nutritional status to obesity in children (p 0,007; OR 2,836; 95% Cl 1,365-5,891), influence of number of family members obesity to obesity in children (p 0,000; OR 3,463; 95% Cl 1,738-7,634), influence of physical activity to obesity in children (p 0,032; OR 0,465; 95% Cl 0,241-0,896), and influence of sedentary lifestyle to obesity in children (p 0,03; OR 2,199; 95% Cl 1,129-4,284). There are no influenee of snaek eonsumption to obesity in children (p 0,202; OR 1,711; 95% Cl 0,829-3,532), and influence of frequency of fast food eonsumption to obesity in children (p 0,395; OR 1,580; 95% Cl 0,678-3,683). Conclusion: The nutritional status of the father, the mother's nutritional status, number of family members obesity, physical activity, and sedentary lifestyle influence to obesity.
