ANALISIS MANFAAT SOSIAL, EKONOMI DAN EKOLOGI PERKEBUNAN KELAPA RAKYAT UNTUK MENDUKUNG PERTANIAN BERKELANJUTAN DI LAHAN PASANG SURUT KECAMATAN BANYUASIN II KABUPATEN BANYUASIN
Abstract Indonesia has coconut plantations covering an area of 3.8 million hectares with production reaching 2.8 million tons. Coconut provides benefits as an important food source for humans, coconut also has various economic, social and ecological benefits. In Sumatera Selatan Province, there is a large area of tidal lowlands. With an objective and comprehensive assessment, the existence of smallholder coconut plantations in tidal lowlands can be expected to support sustainable agriculture. This study aims to describe the current condition of smallholder coconut plantations in tidal lowlands, estimate the social, economic and ecological benefits of smallholder coconut plantations in tidal lowlands Teluk Payo Village, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency and calculate the contribution of smallholder coconut plantations in supporting sustainable agriculture in tidal lowland areas. This research was conducted in Teluk Payo Village, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency. This study used a survey method and interviewed 90 sample farmers from 580 farmer populations. Data were collected in 2021. The sampling method used was proportionate stratified random sampling. The data were processed and analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicated that the characteristics of farmers (age ,education,number of dependents, farming experience), land area cultivated, number of coconut trees,age of plants, planting distance were in good conditions that contributed to a considerably high coconut production in Teluk Payo Village. Total social, economic and ecological benefits of coconut plantation estimated from sample farmers was Rp. 76.135.359,22/ha/year. The contribution of smallholder coconut plantations in supporting sustainable agriculture in tidal land includes three aspects, namely fixed income of coconut farmers, income from employment related to coconut agribusiness, and income for workers involved in related activities.
