Background. Hypertension caused arourid of 13% total death in the world and it was the third rank caused of death in Indonesia. Hypertension is not onlyfound in elder but also in teenage. Body mass index and ABO blood group might be risk factors of prehypertension/hypertension. The goals of this research was conducted to determine the relationship between body mass index and ABO blood group with tendency ofprehypertension/hypertension. MethotL This research was experimental analytic using cross sectional method that was conducted in 352 students of STIFI Bhakti Pertiwi in Palembang. Blood pressure measured by using sphygmomanometer and stetoscope, blood group was determined by using aglutinin test or questionnair and body mass index was determined by measured height and weight using stadiometer and weight scale first the n used body mass index formula. The data of research was tested with Kruskal Wallis, chi-square and regression analysis used SPSS versi 18.0 for Windows. Resuli. This resarch was done for 352 samples, there was prehypertension/hypertension cases in 124 samples and 56 cases or 44.8% of all cases were in B blood group. Based on body mass index category the most precentage of prehypertension/hypertension cases were found in obese. Increasing of body mass index also increasing perceniage of prehypertension/hypertension cases. Stastitical analytic prehypertension/hypertension cases show relationship of both (p=0,000). Stastitical analitic between ABO blood group and prehypertension/hypertension cases show relationship p=0,000. Statistical analytic of ABO blood group with body mass index to predict systolic and diastolic blood pressure was p=0,000 and p=0,000. between body mass index category and Conclusion. This research show that there was a significant relationship between prehypertension cases with body mass index category, there was a significant relationship between ABO blood group with prehypertension cases and there was a relationship between body mass index and ABO blood group with tendency of prehypertension/hypertension, particularly increasing of body mass index and B blood group.
