PREVALENSI DAN FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI PENGGUNAAN KONTRASEPSI ORAL DI KECAMATAN ILIR TIMUR II, PALEMBANG
Contraception is an attempt to prevent pregnancy that is transient or resident. Contraception can be done without using any tools, done mechanically, or by using a drug/device or operation method. The purpose of this research to determine the prevalence and factors that affect the use of oral contraceptives in Ilir Timur II district of Palembang. A cross-sectional and descriptive analytical research has been conducted in Ilir Timur II district of Palembang since October 2011 until December 2011. The samples obtained for this research was 100 samples that fulfill the inclusion criteria. Among these samples, the results are presented in the form of univariate analysis, bivariate analysis and multivariate analysis of tables and frequencies. The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS version 18 program. From the group of respondents who are users of birth control pills, 90.3% of them were aged less than 35 years old, 84.0% of them were women who are not working, 90.3% of them were women who have an education of a high school and below, 64.5% of them were women who have more than two children, and 68.0% of them who have the smallest child age less than 3 years old. The prevalence rate of women in Ilir Timur II district, Palembang who used birth control pills is 31%. The multivariate analysis showed that the factor which have the most significant effect on the use of birth control pills and acts as risk factors are parity (OR=9.854, 95%CI 3.107-31.253, p=0.000), age (OR=6.833, 95%CI 1.55430.042, p=0.011) and the smallest child age (OR=3.305, 95%CI 1.128-9.682, p=0.029). Education (OR=1.624, 95%CI 0.170-15.524, p=0.674) was correlated with the use of birth control pills but the relationship is not significant, whereas occupation (OR=0.426, 95%CI 0.066-2.730, p=0.368) does not correlate with the use of birth control pills and the relationship is not significant. The prevalence of the use of birth control pills in Ilir Timur II district of Palembang is 31%. Factors that affect the use of oral contraceptives are parity, age, and the smallest child age.
