TINGGI BADAN ANAK PENDERITA SINDROM NEFROTIK REFRAKTER YANG MENDAPAT TERAPI STEROID JANGKA PANJANG DI RUMAH SAKIT Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG TAHUN 2013
Background: Steroid is still the first line therapy in nephrotic syndrome and often leads to impaired bone growth, especially in long-term use and high doses as in refractory nephrotic syndrome. Objective: To know the height growth of children with refractory nephrotic syndrome who recieved long-term steroid therapy at Department of Pediatric RSMH Palembang. Method: This is a cross sectional descriptive observasional study, by directly measure the height of patients. Subjects were all children with refractory nephrotic syndrome who were treated in Department of Pediatric RSMH Palembang from October to December 2013. Result: Out of 30 subjects in this study, 56,7% was male and 43,3% was female. The percentage of children from 1-9 years was 63,3% and older than 9 years (10-18 years) was 36,7%. Patients with frequent relapses syndrome nephrotic was 83,3%, 6,7% was a steroid-dependent, and 10% was a steroid resistant. Steroid therapy has been received by 13,3% subjects less than six months and 86,7% had received more than six months. Whereas the persentage of patients that had consumed the steroids with doses under 500mg/BW was 53,3% and more than 500mg/BW was 46,7%. Ninety percent of the patients show sensitive response to steroids therapy. Seventy percent of subjects has normal height and the other 30% was mild stunting. Conclusion: This study showed that most of children with refractory nephrotic syndrom who recieved long-term steroid therapy still have normal height for their age.
