ETIOLOGI KEJADIAN KERATITIS DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Introduction: Keratitis is an inflammation in humans5 comea which leads dullness and causes symptoms like red eye and low visual acuity. Keratitis is caused by bacteria, virus, fungi, dried eyes, foreign things get in the comea, and irritation due to contact lens using. Eye inflammation is a ffequently occurred eye problem. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the etiology of keratitis ensued at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Public Hospital Palembang during lst of January, 2011 until 31st of December, 2012. Methods: This study is an observational descriptive study by cross sectional approach. The samples were 95 patients and the data were taken from their medical records. Results: The number of patients suffering from keratitis with age between 36 — 45 years old was 24 (25,3%) patients. The number of male patients suffering from keratitis was 54 (56,8%) patients and female patients was 41 (43,2%) patients. Bacteria was the cause of keratitis with highest number of sufferer, there were 37 (38,9%) patients. Conclusion: Instead of bacteria, virus and fungi may also cause keratitis.
