IDENTIFIKASI POLIMORFISME-938C>A PROMOTER GEN BCL-2 PADA PENDERITA KARSINOMA OVARIUM EPITEL DI RUMAH SAKIT DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Epithelial ovarian carcinoma is a malignancy arising from ovarian epithelial cell. The cellular transformation into malignant cell is known to be influenced by Bcl-2 protein family which acts as antiapoptotic agent. The -938C>A polymorphism on the Bcl-2 gene is known to be associated with various types of carcinoma. Hence, this study was proposed to identify the -938C>A polymorphism on Bcl-2 gene of epithelial ovarian carcinoma patients at dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. Methods: This study was an observational descriptive study on 40 epithelial ovarian carcinoma patients at dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. Identification of the -938C>A polymorphism on Bcl-2 gene was done by PCRRFLP using Bccl enzyme. Result: Zero subject (0%) with CC genotype (wild type) was identified. 17 subjects (42,5%) were in CA genotype (heterozigous mutant) and 23 subjects (57,5%) were in AA genotype (homozigous mutant). From 40 subjects in this study, 17 C allotype (21,25%) and 63 A allotype (78,75%) were identified. Conclusion: The frequencies of AA genotype and A allotype was found higher in epithelial ovarian carcinoma at RSMH Palembang.
