FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI KEPUTUSAN PETANI MENGKONVERSI LAHAN KARET MENJADI LAHAN KELAPA SAWIT DI DESA SUKAMAJU KECAMATAN MESTONG KABUPATEN MUARO JAMBI
The plantation sector is one of the most widely cultivated sub-sectors. One of the plantation sub-sector crops that are widely cultivated are rubber and oil palm plantations. Rubber plantations in Indonesia still dominate. However, with the development of oil palm plantations, the economic conditions of the farmers are better than those of rubber farmers. This study aims to s, the objectives of this study are as follows: 1) Identify the factors that cause rubber farmers to convert into oil palm farmers in Sukamaju Village, Mestong District, District Muaro Jambi 2) Identify obstacles or other things that cause farmer groups not to convert their rubber plantations into oil palm plantations in the village Sukamaju, Mestong District 3) Analyzing the income difference of farmers who do not convert land with those who convert their land in Sukamaju Village. This research was conducted in Sukamaju Village, Mestong District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The sampling method used in this study was proportional stratified random sampling with a total sample of 40 farmers consisting of 16 farmers who did not convert their land and 24 who converted their land. The results of this study using a binary logistic regression method which shows that there are 4 variables that influence the decision of farmers to convert their land, namely land area, number of dependents, rubber productivity and oil palm farming capital . Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors for farmers to convert their land are age, garden distance and the loss of their main source of livelihood. Comparison of income between converting and non-converting farmers was carried out by independent sample t-test with the result that the sig 2 tailad value was smaller than 0.05, i.e. reject ho, meaning that there was a significant difference between farmers who did not convert their land and those who converted their land with the difference in the income of rubber farmer Rp11.731.952 ha/th, while the average income of oil palm farmers is Rp32.408.182 ha/th with the difference Rp20.676.230 ha/th.
