Background: one of the govemment's efforts to control the population growth rate is through family planning program. Oral contraceptive pill (OCP) is one of the rnost popular contraception used in Ilir Timur I District in 2009, but there is no information about prevalence of OCP use at Palembang in 2010. The purpose of this study is to delermine the prevalence and to evaluate the correlation of age, number of living children and health insurance to the use of OCP among woman of reproduclive age in Ilir Timur I district, also to know which factor is the most do m i nan t factor influencing OCP use in t ha t district. Method: Cross sectional study has been done at Puskesmas Dempo in October 2011. The sample is reproductive-age females who came to Puskesmas Dempo in 1 January - 31 December 2011 and met inclusive criteria (20-45 years old). The data was taken from medical records (secondary data) of the females. The data was analyzed with univariate analysis, which is the frequency distribution of the respondents, bivariate analysis, which is the Chi-Square test, and multivariate analysis which is the binary logis t ic regression by using SPSS 18 programme. Result: Total of the respondents are 1247 females. Prevalence of OCP usage is 16,7%, OCP is the second most contraception choosen by the females. From bivariate analysis, there are 3 variables influencing the use of OCP: age (p=0,000), number of living children (p=0,000) and health insurance (p=0,000). From multivariate analysis, the dominant factor is age (p=0,000 ; OR= 2,691; 95%C1=1,861-3,891). Conclusion: Prevalence of OCP user is high among the females, which signify thal the promotion efforl of the more effective and permanent methods (long term methods) is needed, especially for the pill acceptor who is more than 35 years old and has enough children (1-2 person).
