Backgound: Fibroid is a benign neoplasm which derived from the uterus musele and connective tissue around it. In Indonesia, fibroids found around 2.39 -11,7% among hospitalized gynaecology’s patients. Risk faetors related to fibroids’s development are age, age of menarch, parity, BMI, oral contraceptive use, and family history. Goal: To find prevalence of fibroid and the case amount according to fibroid’s characteristic at obstetry and gynaecology division Rumah Sakit Umum Muhammad Husein Palembang Periods of Januari 2010 - Desember 2010. Method: This deseriptive research took place at medical record at obstetry and gynaecology division RSMH Palembang and Central medical record RSMH Palembang starting from November 2011 - December 2011. The research population is all of the gynaecology patients periods of January 2010 – December 2010. The total sample which fulfilled the inclusion eriteria is 82 patients. The research variables are age, age of menarch, BMI, parity, oral contraceptive use, and family history. Results: The prevalence of fibroids at RSMH Palembang Periods of January 2010 - December 2010 is 4,03 %. From the age category of 42 - 47 years old found at least 31 cases (37,8%). The 13-15 years old age of menarch found around 62 cases (75,6%), the BMI Category of 18,5 - 22, 9 found at least 42 cases (51,21%), the nullipara parity category is 22 cases ( 27 %). Oral contraceptive use and family history category can’t can’t be analyzed. Conclusion and Suggestion : the prevalence of fibroid in RSMH Palembang is same at other places at Indonesia. In RSMH Palembang year 2010, the fibroid cases mostly found at age 42 — 47 years old. Therefore, it’s recommended for women at that age for doing routine examination for early detection of fibroids.
