Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is already proved for protecting babies against infection such as diare. The incidence rates of Diarrhea in babies in Palembang is still high. It is necessary to research the relationship between Exclusive breastfeeding and the number of diarrhea sufferer in babies in Sekip Public Health Centre Palembang. Objective: To know the relationship between the giving of Exclusive breastfeeding and the number of diarrhea sufferer in babies age 7-12 month. Methods: Analitical observational research with cross-sectional approach toward babies age 7-12 month from Mothers who had visited Sekip Public Health Centre Palembang using consecutive sampling. The collecting data methods are obtained by interviewing the mothers of the babies during November until December. Results: The sample size of the research is 103. The number of diarrhea sufferer in Exclusive breastfeeding is 11,7% and it less than the diarrhea sufferer in Non Exclusive breastfeeding 35,9 %. Different meaning with value p 0,005 and odd ratio 0,3. Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding significantly influence the number of diarrhea sufferer for babies in Sekip Public Health Centre Palembang. Exclusive breastfeeding is a natural main food for babies age under 4 month. It is based on the scientific prove about benefits of Exclusive breastfeeding for body endurance, growth and development of babies.
