Background: Operative Treatmerit of cholelitihiasis consist of two main technic, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and Open Cholecystectomy. This time laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been first choice for cholecystectomy in developed country and major cities in Indonesia becattse there are some apprasiement that laparoscopic cholecystectomy have a better result than open cholecystectomyy. Lack of data and evaluation about that comparison in RSMH Palembang, made this study is very importanly to do. Objective: This study aimed to compare operating residt between laparoscopic cholecystectomy and open cholecystectomy at RSMH Palembang during period 1 Juli 2008-31 Juli 2012. Method: A retrospective descriptive analytic study. The population of study were cholelithiasis patient who had operated during period 1 Juli 2008 - 30 Juni 2012. 176 samples were carried out in this study, that consist ing of 120 laparoscopic cholecystectomy and 56 open cholecystectomy patient. Results: laparoscopic cholecystectomy has significantly operation result of total hospitalization and hospitalization after operation compare with open cholecystectomy (p=0,000, 95% Cl). Percentage of mild pain is highest in laparoscopic cholecystectomy patient meanwhile percentage of severe pain is highests in open cholecystectomy patient. But nothing significantly diferrence result of complication of infection after operation between laparoscopic cholecystectomy and open cholecystectomy patient (p=0,328, 95% Cl). Conclusion and Recomendation: laparoscopic cholecystectomy have a shorter total duration hospitalization, after operation duration hospitalization, and a lighter pain than an open cholecystectomy. laparoscopic cholecystectomy may become first choice of operating technic if operation in cholelithiasis should be performed.
