Background: The Obese of children is one of the challenges of health problems in the 21 st century. The increasing prevalence of obese in the world was of particular conccm, especially in Indonesia. The diagnose of obese consists of direct and indirect methods, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. The purpose of this study was to determine the sensitivity and specificity waist circumference as a screening obese in elementary school students of Ilir Timur 1 district of Palembang city. Method: This research was diagnostic test. The collccted data was primary data in Ihe form of wcight and height lo look for the value of IMT (BB/TB") of the curve IMT/U CDC and the cul-off point of waist circumference is scarched using ROC analysis. Sensitivity and specificity were calculated based on cut-off point of waist circumference. Result: The total samples were 355 children, 232 for boys and 123 for iris obtained difference between sensitivity and specificity of waist circumference among the sexes. Sensitivity and specificity were obtained for 88,3% and 90,4% for boys with cut-off point 69,5 and 81,7% and 80,8% for girls with cut-off point 66,5.
