Consumption is an activity that is always done by the household to meet the needs of daily life consisting of the consumption of food and not food. Household consumption needs also change following income levels and following changes in conditions that occur. Study objectives: (1) Calculating household income in Palembang City before and during the Pandemic, (2) Calculating household food and non-food expenditures in Palembang City before and during the Pandemic, (3) Analyze the coping mechanism that are carried out by households in the city of Palembang due to the Pandemic The method used is the survey method. The study was conducted in January 2022 with a total of 90 respondents. Data processing methods use mathematical calculations and are analyzed with the t test (Paired Sample T-test). The results showed that (1) Household income before and during the pandemic in Palembang City decreased by 13,19% or decreased from Rp1,481,613 to Rp1,286,127, (2) Average household consumption expenditure in Palembang City decreased from Rp1,393,166 before the pandemic to Rp1,310,722 during the pandemic. As for household food expenditure increased by 6.16% and for non-household food expenditure decreased by 5.92%. Based on the results of the t test for household income showed that the value of sig(2-tailed) < 0.05 which states that reject H0 is a significant between household income before and during the pandemic in Palembang City. For consumption patterns showed that the value of sig(2-tailed) < 0.05 which states that reject H0 is a significant change between household consumption patterns before and during the pandemic in Palembang City, (3) The coping mechanism by household in the face of the pandemic with three strategies, namely active strategies, passive strategies, and network strategies.
