Research this study aims to determine and study the effect of the performance of the VRLA 40 ampere battery as an energy source for driving a raft using a solar-powered PVC pipe. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Indralaya Campus, Sriwijaya University. With details of the location of the Machinery Laboratory and Workshop and Pond Department of Soil Science, in October 2021 to April 2022. This study uses an experimental method, presenting the results using descriptive data in the form of tables and graphs. This research method consists of several stages, namely literature study, observation, field data, planning and calculations, preparation of tools and materials, making a voltage charger circuit. The parameters used in this study include the power on the solar panel, the efficiency of charging the battery using solar panels, the fill factor, the amount of energy that can be released by the battery, the power required by the pump, and the flow rate generated by the pump. The results of this study indicate that the average amount of power available based on the ability of two 100 Wp solar panels for 5 days of testing is 89.12 Watts and the energy produced can be used for the operation of a 12 Volt DC pump, the average efficiency of the solar panels is equal to 12.66%, the energy available in the battery is 240 Wh, the average power that comes from solar energy received by the solar panel and converted to electrical power is 40.99 Watt, the average power required to turn on the pump is of 50.62 Watt, the battery is able to provide energy for the pump for 3 hours 47 minutes, the time required to recharge the battery with a DOD limit of 80% for 4 hours 36 minutes, the average speed of the raft in motion is 396 meters per hour, more slower than the ship's average speed of 10-15 knots. Keywords: VRLA battery, Solar Panel, DC Pump, Performance test
