The objective of this research ruminant livestock population development conceming pasture availability and labours and analyzing the priority of ruminant govemment livestock agency in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur South Sumatera. This study was done ffom January 2007 to May 2007. Calculation method used effective capacity calculation of ruminant population improvement (Livestock Directrorate General, 1998). The result showed that the value for effective capacity of ruminant population (KPPTR) in OKU Timur is positive that is 183.691,42 ST. Main priority the developing of ruminant livestock area consecutively are Madang Suku I, Semendawai Suku III, Buay Madang Timur, Belitang II, Madang Suku III, Buay Madang, Kecamatan Semendawai Timur, Buay Pemuka Peliung,, Belitang, to identify potency and inhibitant ofwas Semendawai Barat, Belitang III, Jayapura, Madang Suku II, Bunga Mayang, Martapura dan Cempaka. Main inhibition from developing of ruminant population is pasture resources which is low beside this livestock work still put aside.
