PENGARUH BERBAGAI KEDALAMAN PIRIT DAN DOSIS KAPUR BERBEDA TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN KELANGSUNGAN HIDUP IKAN PATIN (Pangasius sp.) DI LAHAN RAWA
Swamp land with high and shallow pyrite levels will increase soil and water acidity due to pyrite oxidation. This is an obstacle in cultivating catfish that require a pH of water 6.5-8.5. One strategy for handling low pH with various depths of pyrite layer is by applying lime. This study aims to obtain the optimum dose of lime at various depths of the pyrite layer with a pH of water that can be used to determine the optimum lime dosage for the survival and growth of catfish rearing in swamp land pond. This research has been conducted from July to November 2018 at Aquaculture Experimental Station, Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University. The research design used was Split Plot Design (SPD). The main treatment factor was the depth of the pyrite layer from the soil surface (P) with treatment level P1 (40-50 cm from the soil surface), P2 (30-40 cm from the soil surface) and P3 (20-30 cm from the soil surface), while the sub-plot treatment factor is a lime dose (K) with K0 (control), K1 (2000 kg per ha equivalent CaO); K2 (4000 kg per ha equivalent CaO), K3 (6000 kg per ha equivalent CaO) and K4 (8000 kg per ha equivalent CaO). Each treatment combination is repeated as three replications so that there are 45 experimental units. The results showed that at a depth of pyrite 40-50 cm and 30-40 cm from the soil surface with a lime dosage of 2000 kg per ha equivalent CaO and a depth of 20-30 cm from the soil surface with a lime dosage of 4000 kg per ha equivalent CaO can be applied for 60 days of catfish rearing with an average absolute growth of length of 8.14-8.65 cm, absolute growth of weight of 20.20-22.72 grams, feed convertion ratio of 0.97- 1.14, specific growth rate of length 1.32-1.41 %/day, specific growth rate of weight 4.06-4.23 %/day, survival rate of 96.6-100% and phytoplankton have low fertility (Oligotroph) and zooplankton have moderate fertility (Mesotroph).
