he advancement of technology in this globalization era has created a limitless world. This led to the variety of offences committed within national or international scale. Many fugitives flee the country where the offence was committed to avoid legal proceedings for their crimes. Extradition is seen as the solution to answer this problem. However, many extraditions failed to succeed due to many reasons. This leads countries to seek an alternative method to replace extradition. Thus, this research is meant to understand the mechanisms and how deportation can be used as an alternative method of extradition that result in the return of a fugitive back to the country which has jurisdiction upon them. The method used in this research is normative by gathering qualitative data and analyzing in a structural and systematic manner. The result of this research is that deportation can be done by revoking fugitive’s passport by the immigration institution of their nationality and in absentia trial as a method to put a fugitive on trial to fulfill the requirement in order to revoke their passport.
