PENGARUH DOSIS KAPUR TERHADAP pH TANAH, ION SULFAT TANAH DAN HASIL TANAMAN JAGUNG PADA KEDALAMAN PIRIT DI LAHAN RAWA
The toxicity of the pyrite layer on swamp land has the potential to reduce maize productivity. Liming is one way to overcome pyrite oxidation and increase soil pH and optimizing corn plant growth and corn yields. This study aims to obtain the appropriate dosage of lime on pond soil with various depths of the pyrite layers to improve soil acidity so that it is optimum for soil quality, the growth of corn and corn yields in swampland. This research has been conducted from August to December 2018 in the Experimental Pond Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries, Sriwijaya University. Soil analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Biology, Chemistry and Soil Fertility, Soil Study Program, Department of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The experimental design uses a Split Plot Design (SPD) with two factors and three replications. The main factor is depth of pyrite layer from soil surface (P) and Sub-plot factors are the dosage of lime (K). The results showed that lime dose treatment had a significant effect on corn growth, increasing soil pH and minimized pyrite oxidation. In the cultivation of corn in swamp land, dolomite lime doses 6000 kg ha-1 equivalent to CaO (K3) is the best dose in optimizing corn plant growth with a plant height of 171.9 cm, increasing soil pH from 4.12 to 6.88 and minimizing pyrite oxidation with soil sulphate ion content of 12.2 ppm in swamp land
