RESEPSI KOMUNITAS PALEMBANG MOVIE CLUB ATAS DISKRIMINASI SOSIAL DALAM FILM THE SCIENCE OF FICTIONS
This research is entitled “Palembang Movie Club Community Reception on Social Discrimination in The Science Of Fictions” which raises the issue of social discrimination caused by differences in social status in society, the issue of social discrimination that affects people of low social status and Production of The Science Of Fictions film which is inspired by real life problems. This study aims to determine the process of interpreting social discrimination in the film "The Science Of Fictions" at the Palembang Movie Club (PMC) community. This study uses qualitative methods with descriptive techniques. The theory used in this research is the Theory of Reception (encoding-decoding) Stuart Hall who categorizes the audience's point of view in three positions, namely the dominant hegemony position, the negotiation position and the opposition. The data of this study were obtained from primary data and results of in-depth interviews conducted with informants who have watched the film The Science Of Fictions. The results of this study are that there are five sources in the dominant position of three people, in negotiating position one person and one person in opposition position. The findings of this study are a series of descriptions obtained from data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation
