KOMUNIKASI INSTRUKSIONAL PELATIH DAN ATLET DALAM MENINGKATKAN PRESTASI DI PEKAN OLAHRAGA PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN (STUDI PADA CABANG OLAHRAGA KARATE TEAM KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ILIR TAHUN 2019)
The function of communication, in instructional system, is a tool to change the target’s behavior. Instructional communication on the process of exercise is a very important element since to create a change in any target goal, a good communication is needed so that the expected goal can be achieved. The objective of this research was to identify how the instructional communication process happened during the exercise activity between the coach and the athletes of Kab. Oki’s Karate Team in increasing the achievements during the program of Pekan Olahraga Provinsi Sumatera Selatan (South-Sumatera Sports Week). The research method used was a descriptive qualitative by the in-depth interview, observation and documentation to gain the data needed. The informant of this research involved a coach and two of Karate Team athletes of Kab. OKI. This research used the theory of nine events of instruction by Robert M. Gagne, involved nine phases which combined in implementing the theory of nine events as the reference of instructional activity process during the exercise done by the coach and Karate Team of Kab. OKI. Therefore, it could create a change in achieving the certain expected goal. The result of this research revealed that the communication happened between coach and Karate Team athletes of Kab. OKI involved an instructional communication formed intensively on interpersonal communication to influence each other and match the perception so that it could lead into the target expected. Moreover, the instructional methods used during the exercise were practice, habituation, interview and discussion method. During the exercise process, coach gave the instruction by analyzing the word in detail through verbal language and non-verbal movement such as by adding symbols or body movement.
