FAKTOR-FAKTOR KERJASAMA INDONESIA DAN THAILAND DALAM MELAKUKAN IMPOR GULA TAHUN 2014-2018
The background of this research is that as it is known that the Indonesian state has a deficit in sugar production, an increase in population makes an increase in the amount of demand for sugar commodities. Sugar production plants in Indonesia still use traditional production equipment, namely the technology used is outdated, which causes difficulties to produce with the high quantity and quality of Indonesian society, this is experiencing a crisis in sugar production in Indonesia. The method in this study uses analytical descriptive research methods. Sources of data to be taken in this study is secondary data. The theory used in this study is the theory of international cooperation. The increase that occurred in the demand for sugar in Indonesia, Indonesia made a policy to import sugar from Thailand. Thailand is the largest sugar-producing country in the world, the production produced by Thailand is of high quality and set a price that is easy to reach by the community. Meanwhile, the price of sugar produced by Indonesia is set at a high price which makes it difficult to reach, while the amount of domestic demand continues to increase every year. Sugar imports are carried out to meet the sugar deficit that occurs in Indonesia, people can get sugar at good prices and quality from Thailand. International cooperation between the countries of Indonesia and Thailand includes factors of technological progress, economic development, protection between countries and awareness to negotiate.
