KEPENTINGAN INDONESIA BELUM MERATIFIKASI KONVENSI PENGUNGSI 1951
This study was made with the aim of making a systematic and factual picture in knowing how Indonesia's interests have not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention. Because based on current conditions in Indonesia there have been more than 13000 foreign refugees. Because Indonesia is not a country that has ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention, the obligation to deal with foreign refugees in Indonesia is the responsibility of UNHCR. Based on these conditions, UNHCR has asked the Government of Indonesia to ratify the 1951 Refugee Convention several times. However, until now Indonesia has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention. In this study, qualitative research methods will be used with analytical descriptive purposes. So that this study can explain how Indonesia's interests have not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention. Then in answering research questions, Holsti will use the concept of national interest descriptively. So the result of this research is that it is known that Indonesia's interest has not yet ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention because of the contradictive between the programs run by the Government of Indonesia and the provisions contained in the convention. If the Government of Indonesia ratifies the 1951 Refugee Convention, it is feared that it will become an obstacle in achieving the programs and objectives that have been planned by the Government of Indonesia. Thus, the policy of the Government of Indonesia to not ratifying the 1951 Refugee Convention is the right decision to achieve Indonesia's national interest.
