All levels of society need survival strategies to meet family needs so that people can achieve a certain level of social welfare, especially at the lowest levels of society. Survival strategies are inseparable from the role of the family. However, not every family can meet all their needs, if the income earned is sufficient, the needs can be met. The researcher discusses the Survival Strategy Of The Stilt Boat Driver Family At Kuto Besak Fortress. The purpose of this study is to describe the strategies and forms of survival strategies and the driver’s factor in maintaining by using James Scott Theory of Survival Mechanisms. The research method uses descriptive qualitative. The results of this study explain that all families apply good relations between each other sych as family, relatives and neighbors. Using subsistence alternative by exploiting the potential of all family members and tying the belt tighter by reducing the costs of family expenses such s simple meals and ignoring secondary needs.
