Kata Kunci : United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indonesia as a country has 1,340 ethnic groups contained in it, one of which is the Sakai Tribe in Riau. For this reason Indonesia itself has participated in signing a declaration (document A / 61 / L.67) which was then referred to the General Assembly namely the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Together with 143 other countries in favor, 4 votes against (Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States) and 11 countries that abstained (Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burundi, Colombia, Georgia, Kenya, Nigeria, The Russian Federation, Samoa and Ukraine). Indonesia as a country that ratified the UNDRIP declaration means that Indonesia has an obligation to respect, protect, and fulfill the rights of indigenous peoples. The approach used in this research is the Concept of International Regime Compliance. While the research method used is qualitative. The results of this study show that the protection carried out by Indonesia in protecting the Sakai tribe in Riau. In complying with the UNDRIP indonesia regime is still at the passive complience stage which means Indonesia complies with the UNDRIP declaration but does not provide changes to the protection of the rights of indigenous Sakai peoples in Riau
