The loading and unloading activity of Kertapati coal contains lead heavy metal, where the previous researcher analyzed the hair of the workers at the location and there was a lead content of 43.39 µg/g of lead in the worker's hair. Therefore, the dust generated from the activities of loading and unloading coal from trains to barges, which will have an impact on the people who live in that location. This study aims to analyze the content of lead (Pb) in dust in the community living around the Kertapati Coal Unloading Pier, which will be associated with the incidence of hypertension, so that in this study the dangers of lead exposure to the community can be identified. This research is quantitative in nature by using an analytical study design with cross sectional method. The research sample was 75 people and four points. At the four dust sample points, it did not exceed the threshold value in accordance with PP no 41/1999 on air pollution and South Sumatra Governor Regulation No. 17 of 2005. Univariate results stated that 53 people were diagnosed with hypertension, bivariate results showed that there was a relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of hypertension and there was a relationship between lead (Pb) levels in dust and hypertension, as well as the results of the multivariate show there is a significant relationship between the levels of lead in dust on the incidence of hypertension after being controlled by the variable of smoking habit with the incidence of hypertension in the community around the Kertapati Coal Unloading Pier (PR=16,673 (3,132-18,766). The community is expected to clean the floor and home furniture using a mixture of water and detergent that contains phosphate concentrate is high, so clean the lead there with the dust, and get used to wash hands with soap, and smoking habits.
