Shopping centers as one of the public facilities where people gather to carry out various activities can become a cluster of Covid-19 transmission. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, most of our attention was focused on the symptoms of respiratory diseases. Meanwhile, we cannot rule out the symptoms of diarrhea and other digestive tract disorders, such as gastroenteritis which is characterized by complaints of bowel syndrome. The purpose of this study was to see the description of the hygiene and sanitation scores of restaurants in each shopping center with the incidence of gastroenteritis in employees, calculate the prevalence ratio of gastroenteritis events based on the assessment of hygiene sanitation in food processing places and bacteriological tests of food samples on shopping center employees. The method used is cross sectional analytic accompanied by observation. The subjects of the study were 208 employees at 5 malls in Palembang and 12 restaurants which were the employees' choice for lunch. Conclusion: data analysis showed that the higher the score of the restaurant hygiene sanitation assessment, the lower the complaints of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The highest prevalence ratio of gastroenteritis is the variable of foodstuffs and ready-to-eat foods, which is 1.251. Keywords: Gastroenteritis, shopping center, Palembang, covid-19
