Smoking has become one of the national to international problems as a major risk factor for various diseases that can result in death. The age range of 15-19 years is the average age of adolescents who start smoking. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of interventions using media matching games on changes in knowledge and attitudes related to the impact of smoking. This study uses secondary data from the UNSRI Sateks study, Comprehensive Intervention in Adolescent Smokers in Palembang City Through a Peer Educator Approach in 2020 and is a quantitative study with quasi experiment study design. The sample calculation of this study uses a hypothesis testing formula to mean two populations. The sample in the study was 44 students as a treatment group and 44 in the control group. Analysis of research data using dependent t test with wilcoxon alternative test and independent t test with mann whitney alternative test. The results showed that there were differences in knowledge related to the impact of cigarettes after being educated using media matching games (p = 0,000) and after being educated using the extension method (p = 0.004). But there was no difference in attitudes related to the impact of cigarettes after being educated using media matching games (p =0.062) and after being educated using the extension method (p =0.920), furthermore in this study there were significant differences in both groups, namely the treatment group using media matching games and the control group with the extension method (p = 0.000). For this reason, media matching games and counseling are effective in increasing knowledge and attitudes related to the impact of smoking in adolescents with the control of confonding variables, namely gender and parental education level. Media matching games can be continued as an educational media in smoking behavior education.
