Cayenne pepper is one of the types of horticutural crop vegetable that are widely cultivated by farmers in Indonesia both on a home scale and export industry. This study aims to dete rmine the most effective priming treatment to increase vigor and viability seeds of cayenne pepper varieties that have expired. Research carried out from March to May 2021 at Seed Technology Laboratory and followed by seed testing in the Greenhouse, Depart ement of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research method used is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatment anf 3 times replicates of 2 groups of expired (K) and nonexpired (T) seeds. As for A = aquades, B = treatment with 1 gram/L NaCL, C = treatment with KNO3 2 gram/L, D = treatment with H2SO4 2 ml/L, E = treatment with PEG 6000 250 gram/L, F = treatment with urea 1 gram/L. The results showed that the immersion treatment with H2SO4 2 ml/L give s the best results on several parameters both in the germination and seedling growth.
