BINGKAI PEMBERITAAN KASUS PENEMBAKAN 6 LASKAR FPI (ANALISIS FRAMING PADA PORTAL BERITA ONLINE REPUBLIKA.CO.ID DAN TEMPO.CO)
The shooting incident between six soldier of the Front Pembela Islam (FPI) and police, which resulted in the deaths of the six soldier, is an interesting national issue to report on because there were cross versions of the two parties involved at the start of the incident, allowing journalists to construct the reality through what they saw. The construction is part of the media frame, which is founded on the ideology, political beliefs, as well as the goal and mission of the media in concern, as evidenced by the use of language as a key factor in highlighting meaning. This served as the foundation for a study titled “Bingkai Pemberitaan Kasus Penembakan 6 Laskar FPI (Analisis Framing Pada Portal Berita Online Republika.co.id dan Tempo.co)” which posed the question of how the news frames created by the online news portals Republika.co.id and Tempo.co. This study uses a qualitative content analysis approach based on Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki's framing theory, which uses syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures as the primary criteria for evaluating news frames created by the media via news articles or pictures. Secondary data was gathered from news documents given by Republika.co.id with Islamic ideology and Tempo.co. with independence in this study. After the analysis, results are obtained in accordance with the ideology of each media. Framing formed Republika.co.id is sympathy for the six soldiers who died by providing dominance of information from the party with most of the news content in the form of criticism to the Police. Meanwhile, Tempo.co shows its independence by following the flow of information, namely by presenting balanced information between two parties to the conflict. Keywords: Shooting of 6 FPI soldier, media framing, sympathy, independence
