This study aims to determine the effect of online learning on student learning independence during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP Negeri 8 Lahat. This study uses a quantitative approach with the correlation method.Sampling using the Probability Sampling technique of Simple Random Sampling type and data collection techniques through documentation and questionnaires. The research population was 276 people, so that a sample of 73 respondents was taken using the Slovin formula with a significance level of 10%.Based on the results of the study, it shows that there is a significant relationship in online learning to student learning independence during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP Negeri 8 Lahat. This is evidenced by the calculation of the value of the correlation coefficient using the product moment correlation formula and simple linear regression using SPSS version 26.0, the significance value is 0.000 and the value (α) is 0.05. Thus the results obtained are sig. < (0.000 < 0.05) or comparing the values obtained between t count and t table, this is t count = 7.307 and t table = 1.994, then the decision taken by Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
