In understanding the concept of “Si Binatang Jalang” existentialism, there are various ways that can be done to understand it, one of which is using hermeneutic analysis to get meaning the poem of “Aku” and that meaning is used as information in understanding the concept of “Si Binatang Jalang” existentialism. This research aims to understand how the concept of “Si Binatang Jalang” existentialism through the interpretation and meaning of the poetry text “Aku”. This research uses two theories, namely Paul Ricouer’s hermeneutics and Jean Paul Sartre’s existentialism concept, where the hermeneutic theory is used to analyze the text of the poem of “Aku”, and the concept of existentialism is used to find out the background of the poet. In this research using qualitative methods and the results of this research, namely the meaning contained in the poem of “Aku”, shows how the attitudes and traits of Chairil had at the time, and from the poetry also make his existence recognized by many people with the nickname of “Si Binatang Jalang” even today. Even after he died, the essence of “Si Binatang Jalang” is still recognized and regarded as a well-know poet and so famous in his time even today keyword: Hermeneutics, Existentialism, Chairil Anwar, Poetry of “Aku”
