THE ANALYSIS OF PROBLEM FACED BY STUDENTS IN TRANSLATING PHRASAL VERB FROM ENGLISH INTO INDONESIAN LANGUAGE

: English is one of languages in the world, in English there are many ways to express words and texts, one of them is with phrasal verb. phrasal verb is a combination of verb and a particle. This study aimed to find out problem faced by sixth-semester students in translating the phrasal verb from English into Indonesian Language. This study conducted at English Education Study Program, Sriwijaya University. There were 73 participants of sixth-semester students of English Education Study Program participating in the study. To answer the formulation of this problem, the writer used descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this study obtained from translation test and in-depth interview. The results of this study indicated that the students faced problem in translating phrasal verb because the lack of knowledge and lack of ability in rendering aspects of meaning. In addition, they also found it hard to translate the phrasal verb they never heard before or they rarely use.
