Communication is an integral part (cannot be separated) from social life. The ability to communicate is an important part of everyday life. This study aims to determine social communication and the development of social communication that occurs in autistic children at the Mandiri Autism Foundation of Palembang City. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Determination of informants in this study was carried out purposively with a total of 14 informants, consisting of 6 main informants and 8 supporting informants. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, observations, and documentation to the main informants and supporting informants. The results of this study indicate that there is a development of social communication that has been carried out by the teacher in the therapy class, and also follow-up therapy that has been carried out by parents at home for autistic children, namely in terms of behavior, communication, independence, and academics.
