PENGARUH VARIASI COATING CAT DAN POLYESTER PUTTY PADA BAJA KARBON RENDAH TERHADAP KOROSI MENGGUNAKAN ASAM SULFAT
The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of variations in drying on the application of paint and polyester putty as a coating on low carbon steel against corrosion in sulfuric acid. The research method used is experimental. Variations made in the form of drying variations at oven temperatures with a range of 35°C - 40°C, 45°C - 50°C, 55°C - 60°C, 65°C - 70°C, 75°C - 80°C , 85°C - 90°C. The specimens were tested for corrosion in sulfuric acid solution with concentrations of 30% and 15% for 24 hours. The results showed that in specimens with oven drying temperature below 50°C, the percentage of damage was below 3%. And specimens with 15% sulfuric acid suffered no more than 3% damage. All specimens with variations in drying temperature on the tested coating material were damaged below 10%. The greatest damage occurred in specimens without coating material where in the 30% sulfuric acid specimen it was 26% and the 15% sulfuric acid specimen was 22%.
