The study entitled "Characteristics of Substrate in the Coastal Zone Banyuasin and Their Impact on Mangrove Vegetation: Case Studies in Sungai Barong Kecil and Barong Besar was conducted in July-October 2014. This research aims to study and analyze the characteristics of the substrate in the Coastal Banyuasin and see the impact on mangrove vegetation, especially in the area of the Sungai Barong Kecil and Barong Besar. Analysis of mangrove vegetation is done by creating a transect parallel to the coastline, while sampling the substrate is done by using the pipe in some point of the study site. The results of this study are the characteristics of the substrate area of the Sungai Barong Kecil for vegetation Avicennia alba and Avicennia officinalis is clayey silt, Avicennia marina and Rhizophora mucronala silt its substrate, while on the Sungai Barong Besar Avicennia alba and Avicennia ojficianalis have clayey silt substrate. The conclusion from this research is Sungai Barong Kecil area has the characteristics of clayey silt and silt substrate with a composition vegetation mangrove include Avicennia marina, Avicennia alba, Avicennia officinalis, and Rhizophora mucronata. Mangrove vegetation in the Sungai Barong Kecil dominated by Avicennia marina with an important value for the level of 94.25 seedlings, saplings 134, and tree 171.66. While in the area of the Sungai Barong Besar vegetation is dominated by Avicennia alba, and Avicennia officinalis. Critical value (NP) for Avicennia officinalis seedlings level of 301, 39, saplings 137.95, while dominated by Avicennia alba trees 182.18.
