The study "Analysis of Changes in Size of Mangrove Areas in Region 2 SPTN Sembilang National Park in South Sumatra Using Landsat TM Data" was conducted in July-November 2014. This aims to analyze the changes in the extent of mangrove areas in Region II SPTN Sembilang National Park South Sumatera by using Landsat TM imagery data. The method in this study is a ground check is done to collect data by making a huge plot size of 30 x 30 m according to the size of the pixels in the Landsat image. And analysis of extensive changes in mangrove areas using Landsat TM imagery data (2003 and 2013) and a supervised classification using the formula NDVI density classification. The results of this study indicate that the mangrove species dominated namely Rhizophora apiculate and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza family of Rhizophoraceae, Xylocarpus granatum family Meliaceae, Avicennia marina family of Avicenniaceae Nypa Jruticans family Arecaceae family, Excoecaria agallocha family of Euphobiaceae to the level of the tree, while the mangrove shrubs are found species such as Acanthus illicifolius family Acanthaceae, Digitaria setigera family Poaceae, Wedelia bijlora Asterales family, Acrostichum aureum Pteridaceae family. Total large of mangrove area in SPTN region Sembilang National Park in 2013 is amount to 26,264,88 ha, expanded 6,696,66 ha ffom large magrove area in 2003 that only 19,561,16 ha. Increasing in area due to high sedimentation and substrate affects the growth of mangroves and mangrove has a strong root system is able to withstand abrasion and any restoration done by JICA that involves the community.
