Data collection techniques conducted using in-depth interview, field observations and documentation studies techniques. The results showed that in the implementation of therapeutic communication in the rehabilitation process of the residents assisted by the Narcotics Correctional Institution Class IIB Banyuasin has applied dimensions to Stuart & Sundeen’s therapeutic communication theory which includes the preinteraction phase, orientation phase, work phase and termination phase. However, there are several inhibitory factors so that the stages of therapeutic communication are not carried out to the maximum.
