MARGINALISASI PEREMPUAN DALAM FILM KIM JI YOUNG BORN 1982 (KAJIAN ANALISIS WACANA MODEL SARA MILLS)
ABSTRACT Kim Ji Young, born in 1982, is a film based on a true story and adapted from the novel of the same name. Because it comes from such an unusual background, this film is fascinating to research. This film was controversial in South Korea, where it was panned for raising gender and women’s issues. Kim Ji Young, born in 1982, describes a modern woman caught in a patriarchal culture that still marginalizes women. This research used qualitative – descriptive methodologies with Sara Mill’s discourse analysis method, which investigated the position of subject-object and audience positions. The research found that women were not always positioned as objects, but were also allowed to be the subject of the narrative. Kim Ji Young, who plays the subject and other supporting characters such as a mother, father, husband in-laws, best friend, a psychiatrist, is a character who plays the role of an object. As a result, the film shows how Kim Ji Young, who plays the role of a subject, is marginalized by a limited range of motion and often gets pressure from her surroundings due to her gender. Marginalization has an impact on structural poverty, which makes it difficult for women to be financially independent, as well as mental health issues. Keywords: Sara Mills Discourse Analysis, Kim Ji Young’s film, Marginalization, Women.
