PEMBUATAN DAN UJI KINERJA MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY (MEA) DENGAN KATALIS Pd-Ni/C PADA PROTON EXCHANGE MEMBRANE FUEL CELL (PEMFC)
The synthesis of Pd-Ni/C catalyst is an effort to reduce the use of Pt on the electrodes. The Pd-Ni/C catalyst is used as an anode catalyst’s were tested performance Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuell Cell (PEMFC) application. The catalyst prepared by impregnating NiCl2.6H2O into Pd/C with total loading 0.5 mg/cm2. The Pd-Ni/C anode with ratio of Pd:Ni 100:0 ; 75:25 ; 50:50 ; 25:75 ; 0:100 and Pt/C cathode has been created. Membran Electroda Asssembly (MEA) was made by combining Pd-Ni/C and Pt/C with nafion membrane 212. Electrodes were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) the Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method. The diffractogram of Pd-Ni/C depicted carbon’s peak at 2θ = 26.4°, palladium’s peak at 2θ = 41° with lower intensity. Significant peak for mixing of palladium and nickel in the Pd-Ni/C electrode was not detected on XRD spectra. According to the CV data, the highest value of ECSA obtained on Pd-Ni/C 100:0 as 1501.06 cm2/g. Simillary, electrically conductivity of electrode also obtained highest results on Pd-Ni/C 100:0 as 0.3166 "× " 10-2 S/cm. Performance test showing optimum OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) on Pd-Ni/C 100:0 with constant temperature at 25°C as 0.88 V. Maximum power density 9.716 mW/cm2 at a density current 28 mA/cm2. Thereafter, the voltage value on I-V curve result of Pd-Ni/C 100:0 achieved up to 0.638 V at a current density of 10.8 mA/cm2. According to the OCV, I-V and I-P performance obtained highest results MEA on Pd-Ni/C 100:0.
