PEMBUATAN DAN UJI KINERJA MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY (MEA) DENGAN KATALIS Pd-Co/C PADA PROTON EXCHANGE MEMBRANE FUEL CELL (PEMFC)
Fabrication and performance test of Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) by using Pd-Co/C catalyst on Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) had been done. Mass ratio Pd-Co/C catalyst was varied by using impregnation method. Furthermore, electrode sized 25 cm2 with loading 0.5 mg/cm2. Anode side was sprayed with Pd:Co catalyst varied by mass ratio at 1:0; 0.75:0.25; 0.50:0.50; 0.25:0.75; 0:1, and load as Pt/C 12 % w/w on cathode parts. MEA was prepared by assembled 2 electrodes between electrolyte membrane. Electrode characterization was conducted Cyclic Voltammetry method (CV) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy method (EIS). MEA performance was determined by calculating the OCV value based on the relation between current density vs potential (I-V) and current density vs power density (I-P) from fuel cell test station WonAtech Smart-2. Cyclic Voltametry characterization would initiate a voltamogram peaks, which consist of anodic and cathodic peak. Voltamogram would be utilized for calculating ECSA value that difine the active sites of catalyst. ECSA calculation has resulted maximum value at Pd : Co ratio 1 : 0 as 1480.37 cm2/g. High conductivity was obtained in 0.48 S/cm at Pd : Co ratio as 0.25 : 0.75. XRD spectra showed palladium peaks at 2θ = 42o and cobalt peaks at 2θ = 45o. Maximum MEA performance according to the measurement was achieved at Pd-Co/C ratio 1 : 0 as 11.92 mW/cm2.
